The Asus Zenfone 3 series was announced at the Computex Conference in June. The series offers three variants: a basic model called Zenfone 3, a phablet offering called Zenfone 3 Ultra, and finally a premium model named Zenfone 3 Deluxe. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe, which is also the flagship device among the three, is the first smartphone in the world to come with the superior Snapdragon 821 SoC. The new processor will be faster and considerably more powerful than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 820. However, there is a Snapdragon 820 version of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe as well, and which model will be making it into India will await to be seen.
To take a look at the key specifications of the three new smartphones from Asus, the Zenfone 3 Deluxe features a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. It sports a massive, 23-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Storage-wise, it comes with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage.
The generic Zenfone 3 comes with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, 3 GB RAM and up to 256 GB internal storage.
Finally, the Zenfone 3 Ultra phablet offers a 6.80-inch display, with similar camera specs as the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, with its highlight being the mammoth 4600mAh battery.
Apart from these, Asus had also launched two other models in July, called the ZenFone 3 Laser and ZenFone 3 Max. All the ZenFone 3 models that have been released so far feature metal bodies and fingerprint sensors. All the models support hybrid dual-SIM slots, and come with an 8-megapixel selfie camera, with ZenFone 3 Max being the only exception. However, which models will finally make their way into India is not yet known.
Information about the features and specs of the Zenfone 3 series are all available to the public, but the main speculation surrounding the India launch has to do with the possible price point of the series. The Asus ZenFone 3 was launched originally at a price of $249 (Rs. 16,800 approx.), while the ZenFone 3 Deluxe and the ZenFone 3 Ultra were priced at $499 (Rs. 33,600 approx) and $479 (Rs. 32,200 approx) respectively. The ZenFone 3 Laser and ZenFone 3 Max were launched in Vietnam at prices equivalent to Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 13,500 (approx.) respectively. The Indian prices are expected to be similar to the figures above.
