Xiaomi Redmi 5:Xiaomi, the Chinese consumer electronics company that has gained a lot of prominence over the last year, is gearing up to launch another smartphone. And by the looks of it, the new device, thought to be the follow-up to last year’s Redmi 4, will be one for the budget buyer.
Xiaomi‘s new mystery smartphone appeared recently on TENAA, the Chinese benchmarking site. The listing, besides revealing a code name for the device, also gave insight into some of its basic specifications. Going by the leaked pictures, the new smartphone retains the aesthetics of some of the past Redmi handsets, albeit with a few notable tweaks. It sports a metallic body (the colouring depicted in the picture is a brushed gold at the back coupled with white in front), along with wide bezels at the top and bottom.
The primary camera unit can be seen at the back of the device along with the company’s branding, and we can also see the presence of a fingerprint scanner. While the Redmi 4 had a somewhat sharper look overall, the smartphone alleged to be the Xiaomi Redmi 5 appears to be more rounded at the corners. There’s also a significant change in the camera positioning at the rear, but that may have been caused by the accentuated antenna lines running across the back at the top and bottom. The side view images also hint at the possibility of the Redmi 5 being a dual-SIM smartphone along with confirming the presence of a microSD slot.
Coming to the listed specifications, the new smartphone listed under the model numberMAE136 will feature a display of 5 inches, and its dimension will be139698.6mm. The possible Redmi 5 smartphone will be backed by a sizeable battery capacity of 4,000mAh capacity. No additional details about the smartphone’s internal specs, including its processor, memory, or camera resolution have emerged.
While most believe the new Xiaomi smartphone to be the Redmi 5, some sources speculate that it might just be called the Redmi 4X. The company recently launched the Redmi Note 4X with a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, and a 4,100mAh battery. We assume that the alleged Redmi 5 smartphone will not be too far behind in launching.Stay tuned to Fabnewz.com for more news and analyses related to technology.
