Xiaomi Redmi 3S+: The smartphone market in India is booming like never before, thanks to number of manufacturers foraying into the country’s lucrative market from neighbouring nations, the most prominent among whom is China. But most of the Chinese launches have a tendency to favouronline retail, and the offline market still remains largely untouched by these companies. As a result, smartphones from LeEco or OnePlus hardlyget much attention in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities that constitute the majority portionof the country.
However, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is making a different call with their newlaunch. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S+has beenlaunched by the company as an offline exclusive, with the aim to fortify the company’s presence in the offline retail market.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S+ is similar to the company’s Redmi 3S in features. The Redmi 3S+ sports a 5-inch 720p HD display and comes with a 13 MP rear camera with autofocus along with a 5 MP front shooter for video calling purposes. Under the hood, the dual-SIM smartphoneis powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset clocked in at 1.4 GHz and an Adreno 505 GPU, along with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The device is backed by an impressive 4,100mAh battery and sports a sleek metal build. Xiaomi has been very successful in India with smartphone like the Redmi Note 3garnering in a lot of sales for the company. But the offline market would help the smartphone manufacturertap into a much larger market, and the Redmi 3S+ marks the company’s attempt to do just that.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S+is priced at INR9,499 and isavailable across more than 7,500 retailers includinglarge format retailers like Poorvika, Sangeetha, BIG C, and LOT Mobiles. The smartphone falls under Xiaomi’s “Make in India” initiative.
