Chinese smartphone company Vivo has launched their latest selfie-focused Vivo V5 smartphone in India earlier today at a press event in Mumbai. The biggest highlight of the smartphone is the 20MP Front facing camera which makes the smartphone a contender in the mid-range, image-specific smartphone section pitting it against other selfie-centric smartphones in the market today, like thecompete against existing similar phones such as the Gionee S6s, Lenovo Z2 Plus and the Oppo F1s.
The Vivo V5 sports a fingerprint sensor that also allows you to activate your apps by swiping the screen down towards the fingerprint sensor. The ‘Smart Screen-Split’ feature allows users to multitask without having to switch back and forth each time a notification pops up that needs your attention. The company also flaunts their custom-made AK4376 dedicated Hi-Fi audio chip that provides an immersive audio experience.

At the launch, the company also dropped a teaser for the upcoming Vivo V5 Plus, world’s first smartphone with a dual front camera setup, although no timeline for the launch or availability was shared.

The Vivo V5 Sports a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass to protect the device display from cracks and scratches. It is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 652 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while support expandable storage via microSD card (of up to 128GB).
On the software front, the V5 runs onAndroid 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s FuntouchOS 2.0 on top which offers features like split window multitasking. The device measures 153.8×75.5×7.5mm and weigh 154 grammes.
The highlight of the smartphone is definitely the front-facing camera which boasts an unprecedented 20MP sensor.The V5 boasts of a ‘Moonlight Glow’ feature that induces a natural glow on the face without straining eyes that lights up the picture irrespective of the lighting conditions. The company claims that the feature allows users to capture perfect selfies without making them grainy, distorted or flooded with hard flash.
Battery and Connectivity Specifications
The dual-SIM Vivo V5 comes with standard connectivity options including LTE and is backed by a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

Priced at Rs.17,980 ($265), the Vivo V5 will be available from November 26 across online E-commerce platforms and offline stores in the country, and the pre-orders will start from tomorrow.
