UnIndian is set in Australia and the story is that of an Australian man who falls in love with an Indian woman. The woman loves him back and is a single mother. When they decide to tie the know, friends and family expressed concern over that their choice of a partner so different from them, hailing from a different country.
Unlike what many believe the film is not the first film Lee’s been a part of. He was in ‘Babe’ made 20 years ago. Lee is listed in the credits of the pig-starring flick as an animal handler. He apparently hand-fed the pig that appeared in the movie. Looks like Lee has always been into creative things; like in 2001 appeared in a Wiggles episode, hosted a short-lived sports show called Personal Best and even starred as himself in a cartoon, according to news.co.au. Although an Australian actor, it’s been in India where Lee has enjoyed the most success. So it’s not surprising for him to star in Indian film which will be his first lead role. Now without much ado, let me tell you that UnIndian first day box office collection in Indian was Rs. 1 crore 13 lakhs and UnIndian opening day box office collection overseas was Rs. 89 lakh ($133910).

Anupam Sharma, the director of the film has previously directed the Australian shoots of Bollywood films like Dil Chahta Hai, and Heyy Babyy among other. Speaking on Brett lee’s acting skills, Anupam said: “You all know Brett Lee as a cricketer, but I have always known him as a performer; I have done television commercials with him and heard his songs. So I saw a restless artist in him, who was hungry for some good acting and good performance.” Although incredibly interested in creative things in general, Lee never really saw himself as an actor. He told to BBC, that: “On the cricket field, I’m totally different on the field to what I am off the field. It came naturally to be in front of the camera.” Speaking of the money earned, UnIndian opening week box office collection is Rs 10.20 crore ($100 million).
Before it’s release in India, the film took a controversial hit when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) headed by Pahlaj Nihalani, asked Director Anupam Chopra to trim a nude scene. About the scene, Lee said: “It’s embarrassing but she made me feel very comfortable, and it was done in a very tasteful way.” The scene was promptly trimmed down.
