TVS Akula 310 concept bike will hit the Indian market this financial year. President and CEO of TVS Mr. K.N. Radhakrishnan has himself confirmed the news. That means the bike will rule the Indian market any moment from the end of the year to the early next year. The concept bike was unveiled for the first time in the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and was well acclaimed from then, among the speed lovers. The Akula 310 we spotted testing on the roads recently. The price as the company has coated for it is from 1.8 Lakh to 2 Lakh.
The new racing motorcycle and its 310cc engine were developed jointly with BMW Motorrad, and it will share the same platform as the new BMW G310R. Akula 310 is a full-fledged race bike, displayed as an homage to TVS’s racing heritage. The bike will share vital components with the G 310 R, like the steel trellis frame chassis, and the 313cc single cylinder liquid-cooled motor that comes with four valves and two overhead camshafts. This new TVS entry will churn out a power of 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rp along with a six-speed gearbox.
BMW 500cc motorcycle, the G 310 R, released in in October, is the first BMW motorcycle that is made in India and also the first manufactured outside Europe. Now Akula 310 will be a joint venture that will add a new kind of riding experiences.
TVS will manufacture this racing motorcycle at its plant in Tamil Nadu to cut the production costs. According to the reports, he TVS dealers will get priority for the exclusive outlets. The bike will compete against the KTM 390 Duke, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3. Now it is just a matter of time when the release date of the bike will be announced.
