Toyota Motor Corporation, a Japanese automotive manufacturer, is one of the leading car-selling brands all over the world. Known for its stylish and innovative car designs, now it is all set to release premium brand Lexus next year in India after two failed attempts in 2010 and 2013. The previous attempts were held back due to the high customs duties and various other reasons. So we can expect the excitement regarding the release. Lexus vehicles come with both petrol and diesel engine, and for India, they have decided to stick to the hybrid model at the initial phase. Toyota also has plans to bring the Lexus offering as completely built units (CBU).
The current international range of hybrid Lexus vehicles is CT hybrid hatchback, ES, GS, LS hybrid sedans and NX, RX hybrid SUVs.
The RX 450h compact SUV powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine in tandem with an electric motor will be the first model for India. The GS 450h sedan also uses the same engine of RX 450h, which has an increased output of 338bhp, and the LS 600h features 5-litre V8 engine with an electric motor that is able to produce 438bhp.
Toyota is also planning to bring its Daihatsu small cars for the Indian market to give a tough competition to the small cars from the house of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
