Toy Story 4: The Toy Story franchise has probably been one of the most popular animated series franchise following the first movie which hit the screens long back in 1995. With Woody and Buzz Aldrin becoming household characters for the 90’s kid as well as a host of other people, it is not surprising that the excitement surrounding the release of Toy Story 4 is huge. Directed by John Lasseter, the director of Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999), and co-directed by Josh Cooley, the story of Toy Story 4 has been reported to be penned by Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich, who conceived the story for the first film in the franchise.
“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. ‘Toy Story 3’ ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another ‘Toy Story’ movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.”
-John Lasseter
Toy Story 4 Plot
The plot of Toy Story 4 will focus on the toys Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their friends after their former owner, Andy, gave them to a young girl, Bonnie. The story will involve the gang helping Woody reunite with his love interest, Bo Peep.
For those unaware, Bo Peep is a porcelain figurine attached to Molly’s bedside lamp inspired by the heroine of the famed nursery rhyme; a beautiful, sweet-natured shepherdess accompanied by a single figure merged to resemble three sheep, who serves as Woody’s romantic interest of the films. However, she did not return in Toy Story 3 due to uncited reasons, except in flashback footage, as she had apparently been sold over the years like a few of the other characters, to Woody’s sadness. The upcoming movie although is slated to feature Bo Peep as one of the central characters with the toys embarking on a journey to get her back.
