It seems like Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane are going through a rough spot of time with a number of players in the squad succumbing to injuries as well as not hitting top form. What is more worrying for the European Champions is that in such a tough spot of time, they have some major clashes including Champions League fixtures against Sporting as well as La Liga clashes against Atletico Madrid and not to forget the “El Clasico ” on December 3 early next month.
Madrid previously lost Casemiro with a fracture and even Marcelo was sidelined with injury for a couple of matches which aggravated a great deal with Zidane’s problem at the back. And now, it has been confirmed that attacking midfielder Toni Kroos will be out of action for at least six weeksafter fracturing his metatarsal.Kroos injured his foot against Legans at the weekend but Madrid had hoped he wouldn’t be out for a significant length of time.
“After tests carried out today in Germany on Toni Kroos under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a fracture-avulsion of the base of the fifth metatarsal in the right foot. The injury was picked up in the last league game against Legans. His recovery will continue to be monitored.”
-Real Madrid Club Statement
Kroos, who is an integral part of Madrid’s midfield line-up will be a crucial absentee in the Clasicoclash against Barcelona at the Bernabeuand at this point, Madrid do not have a specialist midfielder who is adept at distribution as good as the German. James Rodriguez, Isco and Mateo Kovacic must definitely be in line for the crucial role for Zidane against Luis Enrique’s side in the much-anticipated clash but the fact that Los Blancos will miss the services of the German international will remain a concern for the coach and a large number of Real Madrid fans spanning the globe.
