The Blacklist: Redemption is yet to hit international TV screens, and already the internet is rife with speculations, news and rumours of the upcoming NBC spin-off of popular TV drama-cum crime thriller ‘The Blacklist‘. ‘The Blacklist’ is currently on its fourth season and its continued popularity has ensured the spin-off to come out early 2017.
‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ Storyline
While details are sketchy, ‘The Blacklist: Redemption‘ willstar Famke Janssen as Susan Scott “Scottie” Hargrave, president of Halcyon Aegis, which is a private military company with teams of corporate operatives and who serve basically as mercenaries, and Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen, a character from the original series, ‘The Blacklist’. This new series will focus more on Eggold’s character, and the series’ fate was dependent on the character of Scottie Hargrave being cast. After Janssen confirmed, we can now safely report these two characters will have a similar dynamic comparable with what Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) has to Liz Keen (Megan Boone) on‘The Blacklist’, the ostensible mother of the new series. Undercover operative Tom Keen will join forces with Susan “Scottie” Hargrave, the brilliant and cunning chief of Grey Matters in this new series, a covert mercenary organisation that solves problems governments won’t dare to touch. ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ will have an eight-episode order. According to Deadline, as Tom and Scottie team up to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom will begin his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past. The cast will also include Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress.
‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ Air Date and Other Details
In October 2016, David Amann was named the series’ show-runner and executive producer. Amann performed the same roles formerly for ‘Castle’.Eggold admitted that he’s very excited that the spinoff will focus on a classic espionage theme, comparable to, in his own words, “the “Bourne” movies, Robert Redford’s “Three Days of the Condor” and Jim Phelps’ “Mission Impossible” series.” ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ air date is not fixed, but will probably premiere in early 2017. We will keep a tab on all further updates.
