For Terminators fans who had been eagerly waiting for the next Terminator film, are in for a disappointment. Recent reports suggest the film – Terminator 6 – isn’t happening and that neither Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke are interested in reprising their role.

New York Daily News sighting an inside source reported that Paramount isn’t going ahead with their precious plan. The Terminator: Genisys that was supposed to kick-off a trilogy but despite making huge profits the sequels aren’t coming through.

“The studio has taken the sequel off the production slate completely, meaning there is no pre-production or any plans for another sequel. The talent had been offered long-term deals, but this is not happening,” the Los Angeles-based source said, “The Genisys movie was seen as a way of reviving (the franchise), but the critics were not happy, and somehow the studio bosses fell out of love with making more, even though they made huge profits.”

Back in January, there were reports suggesting that James Cameron would return for Terminator 6 and the film will be directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool). But now, the news is that Cameron is already involved with the Avatar projects lineup for a couple of years. The first Terminator film was released in 1984 and was directed by James Cameron. With both Schwarzenegger and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke pulling off this association from The Terminator, Paramount has reportedly canceled the trilogy.

With Genisys making profits over $300 million,  the Terminator franchise has generated over $3 billion. Schwarzenegger himself made over $100 million from the franchise.

Paramount may not be interested in making further Terminator films, but, although a long shot, there are chances the film could be picked up by other studios. Although we really doubt if a 69-year-old Schwarzenegger would want to return.

Paramount is yet to make an official statement surrounding the cancellation of Terminator 6.
