Supreme Court Asks For Solution Regarding Rising Drug & Alcohol Abuse in Children

The apex court of India, today, came up with a query related to a very disheartening issue that is Drug, Alcohol, Sexual Abuse among the young teens, children, teenagers, etc. Supreme Court raised questions to the Centre regarding the solutions to curb the national issue within 6 months. It further asked the government to immediately come up with a national action plan so as to solve the major problem hitting the backbone of the nation, who in turn become drug peddlers when addicted to it.

The bench consisting of Chief Justice TS Thakur and DY Chandrachud asked Centre to hold a national survey on the substance of psychotropic drugs and alcohol abuse among children across the nation. The judges opinionated further that such children after getting addicted to drugs pro-actively become peddlers to generate revenue for the purchase of such high-end psychotropic drugs and alcohols.

It continued with the factors that it favoured to have a keen look over on the curriculum so that school children be aware of the facts and figures regarding drug and alcohol abuse and at what rate it may put an impact in the life of such children. The ill-effects majorly destroys the life of kids, be it not only educational foreground. The case was regarding ‘Children Against Drug Abuse’ was filed by Nobel Laureate Kailash Sathyarthi who runs an NGO named Bhachpan Bachao Andolan.

The PIL passed in 2014 got themain verdict and attention from Supreme Court today on December 14, 2016. It includes a creation of model syllabus on bad affect due to drugs, alcohol and substanceabuse. Several rehabilitation and de-addiction centres are in line to join the Petition as it is certainly a national issue.
