Sudarsan Pattnaik is a popular sand artist and he has claimed to have made the ‘world’s biggest’ Santa face on the Puri beach in Odisha. The giant Santa face has the words ‘World Peace’ written on it and it has been made on the eve of Christmas. The sculpture is 25 feet high and 50 feet wide and will be placed in the Limca Book of World Records. A sculpture of Jesus Christ has also been created in front of the Santa face. The whole sculpture used up about 600 tonnes of sand including colored sand. Sudarsan Pattnaik was assisted by 40 of his students at the Sudarsan Sand Art Institute of Puri and it was completed in three days, more precisely the master and the students took 35 hours to erect that monument.

The sculpture will be on display until January 1, for the tourists and pilgrims visiting the temple town. Thousands of tourists and pilgrims who are in the temple town have been thronging the beach everyday for a glimpse of the marvellous structure. The international sand artist already is in the Limca Book of Records. He also holds a place in the Guinness World Record for creating the world’s tallest sand castle. Sudarsan Pattnaik sent out a tweet of the Santa face sculpture with the caption,“World’s biggest sand Santa Claus face 25ft height and 50ft width, my SandArt of with message World peace at Puri beach #Odisha #MerryChristmas.”

Sudarsan Pattnaik regularly creates sand sculptures and sand arts on Puri beach for national events to highlight the importance of the events. While birthdays and anniversaries of popular personalities are common in his art form, his sand art on the wedding of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had garnered him a lot of attention. After he tweeted the image of his art, Anushka replied to him thanking for the effort.
