The specification for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 have been leaked and according to reports it could be set to launch very soon. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the alleged successor of the popular Redmi Note 4 and has been spotted online which is what led to the suspicions that it will soon be released sending fans into a flurry. The rumored Redmi Note 5 has codenames set at MET7/MEE7. It has been seen on the TENAA website. Images as well as specs have also been leaked and this comes just days after the announcement of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A in China. The Chinese model is said to have an eight-day battery life. 5.99 Inch Display
According to the leaks, this new device will have a 5.99-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. It is also rumored to feature 18:9 aspect ratio which matches the current trend in some of the newer model smartphones. The 5.99-inch display will have full-HD with 2.5D curved glass display. It will also have an octa-core processor to power the handset and the device is expected to be released in two variants. There will be a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model and a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model. Unfortunately, there is no information on the chipset powering the handset but rumors do suggest that it will be the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon.
Android Based Operating System
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is set to run on MIUI 9 out of the box which is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It will support expandable storage via microSD card up to 128GB and the handset will also have a hybrid SIM slot.

The listing on the TENAA sites tipped readers off that the Redmi Note 5 would also have a 4000mAh battery which is slightly smaller than the 4100mAh battery that was available with the Redmi Note 4.
The TENAA listing also included images that suggest the handset will come with a fingerprint scanner that is located on the back of the device. The handset itself will have purportedly rounded corners if the leaked images are to be believed and the device itself will measure 158.5×75.4x8mm and it will weigh around 180 grams.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Available in China
As we anxiously wait confirmation of the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, we shouldn’t forget the the Redmi Note 5A has already been released in China. This was the first mobile device in the Note 5 series following on from the previous Note 4. The launch of this mobile happened in China back in August. The Note 5A comes in two different models, a standard edition and a high edition. There are three different RAM and memory storage capabilities too.
The base model of the Redmi Note 5A comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and is priced at CNY 699.
There are two premium editions and these come with fingerprint scanners as well as upgraded specifications. The 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model costs CNY 899 and there is also a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model that costs 1,199.
There is lots of excitement surrounding the next smartphone in Xiaomi’s lineup and from the the rumors and leaked information it seems like the launch might not be too far away. The device has been listed online again and this time it was spotted on Oppomart. Xiaomi India head, Manu Kumar Jain has teased about the launch of a new product in India on his Twitter feed too. He hinted at the letter “I” but we aren’t sure if this related to the new device being a smartphone or not. One thing we do know, is that there is sure to be further clarification in the upcoming weeks and with Jain taking to Twitter to tease about things, we can be sure that the Indian market will be a firm target.
The Oppomart listed was removed, but this definitely does point to the possible launch of the new smartphones in the coming weeks.
