Sons of Sardaar Poster Unveiled

Ajay Devgn, on Friday, has unveiled the Sons of Sardaar first poster, which is going to be his new movie, after Shivaay. The poster looks like a page of a graphic novel, and the 47-years old actor said the movie is a tribute to those Sikh martyrs who fought bravely in the Battle of Saragarhi.

Almost a year ago, Devgn tweeted about this movie and also seek best wishes for it. He also claimed that the movie would match the grandeur of Hollywood classic ‘300’. And the Sons of Sardaar first look confirms that he was not exaggerating at all.

The Battle of Saragarhi was fought on 12th September 1897 between 21 Sikh soldiers and almost 10,000 Afghan invaders along the North West Frontier Province. All the 21 Sikh soldiers kept the Afghan intruders at the bay with the cost of their lives. For their bravery and courage, they posthumously received the Indian Order of Merit, which was British India’s equivalent of the Param Vir Chakra.

The Sons of Sardaar poster features the battle scene of Saragarhi, and also the Fourth Battalion of the 36th Sikh Regiment, with bloodied swords in their hands, brandishing muskets and the “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal” war cry on their lips. Though we don’t any more information about the movie, yet, the speculations are the Sons of Sardaar will hit the silver screens on Diwali, 2017.

Not the first Ajay Devgn will portray a historical character. He played the character of the great freedom fighter of our country, Bhagat Singh in the movie ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’. He also won the National Award for his stupendous performance in that movie. Devgn also starred in and produced Son of Sardaar, an action-comedy, released in 2012, but that movie has no connection with this upcoming period war drama.

Devgn is currently busy with his directorial debut Shivaay which is releasing on October 28. The movie is based on a mountaineer, and apart from Devgn in the lead role, the movie casts debutants Sayyeshaa, the grandniece of veteran Bollywood actress Saira Banu, British Child actor Abigail Eames and Erika Kaar.
