Sniper Elite 4, the sequel to 2014’s thoroughly enjoyabletactical shooter Sniper Elite 3, will make its way across platforms in 2017. The newest game in the successful franchise is set during the World War II, like its predecessors. But this time around, the Italian peninsula will serve as the setting, where agent Karl Fairburne will go on a mission to save citizens from the brutality of Nazism that threatens to take over their country.
Sniper Elite 4 is being developed by the British video game developer, Rebellion. After a long period of speculation from fans, Rebellion announced the game in March 2016, with an official release date set during this year’s E3 back in June. But while the gamewas originally expected to launch sometime during the end of 2016, it was revealed that it would not see the light of day until February 14, 2017.
Sniper Elite 4 will be a huge improvement upon the previous games in the series. The developers have made it clear that it will deliver a more expansive sniping experience, all the while taking care that the journey through the beautiful landscapes proves to be just as satisfying.at Rebellion have described the upcoming game to be a sniper paradise as a result of improved animation system, artificial intelligence, and technological rendering. The game’s maps will also be improved to facilitate really long shots.
One other thing about Sniper Elite 4 that fans are really excited for is the game’s x-ray system that will give a detailed glimpse into the damage being done by the bullet as it pierces through the enemy bodies. More about that later.
Sniper Elite 4 Plot:
Sniper Elite 4 is set in 1943 in the heart of WWII and follows directly after the events of Sniper Elite 3. Players will be in control of Karl Fairburne and help the Italian Resistance to battle against the Fascist force that has taken hold of their lands. As the game’s official website says, Fairburne and the members of the Resistance mustdefeat “a terrifying new threat with the potential to halt the Allied fightback in Europe before it’s even begun.” The fate of the whole country hangs by a thread during such trying times, and if Fairburne fails to achieve his mission, “there will be no Operation Overlord, no D-Day landings, and no Victory in Europe.”
Sniper Elite 4 Gameplay:
The tactical shooter game with stealth elements will be played from a third-person perspective.Besides sniper rifles, there will be a host of other weapons to choose from, which can be quick-selected with the help of the weapons wheel. Most of them will be useful for shooting at close quarters, while the sniper will give players some of the best long shots in recent sniping games. Players will also be given access to a pair of binoculars to keep an eye on distant enemies, and they can also set out traps and explosives to cause more damage to those nearby. But the game’s improved artificial intelligence means that the enemy will be more responsive to the player’s actions, making them faster to react and attack.
True to its name, however, Sniper Elite 4‘s main attraction is its precision sniping. Targeted enemies will have distance markers which will help players determine how to execute a particular shot. A perfect shot will enable the game’s slow motionX-ray kill cam, which will give a totally satisfying look at the enemy’s insides as he’s being ravaged by the player’s bullet. This works by making the exterior of the body see-through, revealing the critical damage being done to their internal organs. The gameplay footage revealed by the developers at this year’s E3 showed off one that hit an enemy in the face.
Sniper Elite 4 will bemuch larger in scale and scope than any of its predecessors, with meticulously crafted levels that accommodatea wonderful array of stealth activities. “With an expansive campaign for 1-2 players and dedicated co-op and adversarial multiplayer modes, Sniper Elite 4 aims to deliver the definitive World War Two shooter for a generation, with unrivalled sniping freedom across maps many times the size of those seen in Sniper Elite 3,” say the game’s officials.
