In a rejoicing news for Jessica Jones fans, season 2 has begun filming. The first season the premiered on November 20, 2015, is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The show was highly praised for its noir tone, PTSD, approach towards sexuality and sexual assault. For anyone who wants to catch the superheroine kicking her enemies, Krysten Ritter appears as Jessica Jones in The Defenders coming to the small screen later this year.
We don’t know much about what the second season has to offer, expect for the fact that all 13 episodes are being directed by women, and don’t know who those women are. As to what fans can expect from Jessica Jones season 2, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said:
“I think one of the things I would be able to do now, that’s harder to do in the first season, is to really expand on the ensemble…I would hope to further expand on the ensemble, and on Jessica’s world. She ends in a very different place than she started off. She’s still going to be Jessica Jones — that is not going to change. She will continue to drink and make mistakes, and accidentally drop people onto train tracks, but something has changed for her by the end of this season, and I’d just love to explore that in the second season.”
She didn’t reveal anything specific but she did say we’ll see the same damaged Jessica Jones.
The first season of Jessica jones starred Mike Colter, Rachael Taylor, Wil Traval, Erin Moriarty, Eka Darville, Carrie-Anne Moss, and David Tennant, we hope some of the characters will return and reprise their roles in the show.
Besides Ritter, The Defenders also stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist and Mike Colter as Luke Cage. And in the show, Jessica and Daredevil will be sharing a “fiery chemistry” as both characters are “quite opinionated and quite stubborn.”
