
It seems that we will be seeing more of Marioand Sonic Olympicsgames for the future as earlier today, Sega announced an agreement with the International Olympic committee toproduce games for the 2020 Olympic Games which is scheduled to be held in Tokyo. The new games are pegged to have console, handheld, mobile and arcade versions.
According to Sega CEO Haruki Satomi, he felt honoured to be granted with the sub-license from International Sports Multimedia (ISM). The report said that ISM CEO Raymond Goldsmith believes that Sega’s video games will help “support the global appeal of Tokyo 2020.”
Another report from Gamespot,Sega wanted the license because Olympic Games “draws everyone’s attention”. Sega is well-suited for the job, it said, because of its “accumulated experience and know-how.”TheJapanese multinational video game developer and publisher headquartered in Tokyo hasmade Olympic games in the past, as it previously developed games for the Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games and the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.More importantly, the next Olympics will also be monumental in their ventures, since it will be hosted in one of the founding countries for video games.
International Sports Multimedia CEO Raymond Goldsmith added that Sega’s video games should help “support the global appeal of Tokyo 2020.”
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics run July 24-August 9 in Japan.
