After serving 5-year imprisonment for illegal possession of armaments during 1993 Mumbai blast, he is now a free roaming man and of course happily married to beautiful Manyata Dutt with two utterly cute kids. He has shared his experiences several times in media but such revelation regarding his obsession and drug addiction is really very shocking!
Yes, you heard it right. Sanjay Dutt revealed that his drug addiction, possession as well as abuse to himself is definitely that B-Town would sluggishly accept. His addiction to cocaine and heroin reached to such extent that he literally forgot about his family, especially his sisters and freely risked their life. To much surprises, he confessed in front of thewhole world that if he didn’t seek help from his Dad at that time, he would have died ages ago.
As per the excerpts which have beentaken from Bollywood Life a speech given by Sanjay Dutt during an event held in Mumbai by Young FICCI Ladies Organisation, ”I used to do a lot of cocaine then (during shoot of ‘Rocky’) and Cocaine makes you very high and to get you down, you had to drink alcohol). One day, I came home high, had alcohol and went to sleep. When I woke up, I asked the house help to get me something to eat. And he told me, ‘Baba you are eating food after two days’. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt ki main 100% marne wala hoon; that was when I asked my father for help.I remember that I was so addicted that once I travelled with 1 kilogramme of heroin hidden in my shoes. My two sisters were also with me on the same flight. At that time, checking at airports was not so strict. Today, when I think about the incident, I get scared. Drugs do this to you. You don’t care about family or anything else.”
He further accepted that he thanks, God and family every day for supporting him in all kith and kin hence helping him out from his drug addiction and substance abuse. What startled him the most was his Father’s demise which helped him see through real life and later on his wife Manyata who helped him to stay away fro alcohol too. Drugs, alcohols, even smoking is now a distant nightmare for Sanjay Dutt now.
