Samsung Serif TV

Samsung had unveiled the Serif TV in September last year. They created the television in collaboration of French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The idea behind the design of the TV is that they wanted to make it look at home with the furniture of the room, thereby making it looks like furniture instead of something that is merely mounted on the wall and looks odd. Good news is, now its available in the US.

The Samsung Serif TV is now available for purchase in the US. The company offers the Serif lineup with UHD in 40-inch, full HD in 32-inch, and with regular HDin 24-inch sizes. But in the US only the40-inch UHD model is available. The LED 4K TV has three HDMI portsand is capable of running apps. It supportsBluetooth speaker, as well as Wi-Fi.

The TV kind of looks like a letter ‘I’ with Serifs in profile, thus the name. The legs of the device comeoff quickly. The device has had mixed reviews where some believe it’s beautiful, and othersbelieve it’s ugly.Thomas Ricker, the senior Verge editor, says he “finds the whole concept corny.” There’s just too much bezel, that draws unnecessary attention to the TV. “Iwant to minimise my TV’s presence in my living room,” says Ricker. “This isn’t design, it’s ornamentation. There’s nothing about this that makes it a better TV.”

Samsung Serif TV isexclusively available at the Museum of Modern Art for $1,499 in blue or white colour.
