Samsung Galaxy Note 7, quite arguably the most awaited smartphone of the year,  has been launched in India at a price of INR 59,990. The Note 7 will go on the market from September 2, and will be available on all major e-commerce platforms. Additionally, customers can get the new Samsung Gear VR headset for an added cost of INR I,990 while pre-registering for the phone between August 22-August 30.


Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 at an event in New York earlier in August. The phone is available abroad in four different color variants, named Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Black Onyx, and Blue Coral, while only the first three colours will reportedly be made available in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be bundled with the Jio 4G SIM preview offer in India which will provide users with three months of free data.

Much of the hype surrounding many rumoured features of the Note 7 was confirmed with the phone’s unveiling this month, including the Iris Scanner which comes clubbed with the Samsung Knox software in order to provide better security and privacy. Another much sought after feature prior to the phone’s unveiling of was the S Pen, which sports a smaller, more precise, 0.7 mm diameter tip and comes with a bunch of cool functions that include writing on the smartphone directly without unlocking the screen. The phone itself is waterproof and offers the convenience of wireless charging.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and it will be equipped with either an octacore Exynos 8890 processor or a quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, depending upon the market. The smartphone will offer 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256 GB.

The 12 MP primary camera is equipped with an LED flash and offers simultaneous 4K video and 9MP image recording, while the secondary 5 MP camera boasts of dual video call Auto HDR features. The camera of the smartphone can be launched with ease simply by double pressing the home button.

The Galaxy Note 7 is backed by a non-removable 3,500 mAh battery and comes with a host of connectivity options including 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C.
