The wearable industry has come a long way since the first fitness tracker and today, smartwatches are the in-thing in the market. With the growing prosperity of the smartwatch market, more and more companies are striving to manufacture the latest premium wearables in order to keep up with the competition today and on the smartwatch front, Samsung is definitely a fore-runner. The South Korean multinational is pegged to launch a major product at their press conference in New Delhi later today and rumour has it that the product will be the much-anticipated Samsung Gear S3.
Earlier at the CES 2017, Samsung announced that their forthcoming Gear S3 and the recently launched Gear Fit2 shall now be supported on iOS devices which was kind of a green flag that the company are all set to make their flagship wearable open to the customers.
The Samsung Gear S3 is offered in two variants – Classic and Frontier. The Gear S3 Classic comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, whereas there ‘Frontier’ version supports LTE, along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Both the premium wearables from the consumer electronics manufacturer sporta 1.3-inch super AMOLED full circular display running at a resolution of 360360pixels (278 dpi), which is fractionally larger than the Gear S2’s 1.2inch display. Samsung has also added Corning Gorilla glass support to the smartwatch displays making it impervious to drops, knocks or scratches. Also, the gear S3 frontier is pegged to be Military -grade durable which will make it able to withstand accidental damage as well assurvive high and low temperatures.
Now, although the specifications of Samsung’s latest wearable due strike the perfect chord of elegance, the wearable does come with a hefty price tag. The Amazon India website also has a product listing from Samsung with a price tag of Rs 54,364 for two variants called Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier with the same price making it more expensive than even the Apple Watch. While from the looks of it, the Classic seems to have a leather strap while the Frontier seems to have a silicone strap.
