Saavn, the music streaming service that is focused largely towards Indian and Bollywood music, has unveiled a new slate of original programming. The new shows that it will feature include ones hosted by actress Neha Dhupia, well-known film critic and analyst Anupama Chopra, as well as singer-songwriter Raghu Dixit.
Saavn originals will begin airing the show Film Companion with Anupama Chopra from August 11. As the host is renowned to do, the show will not only feature film reviews and discussions, but also interesting interviews with the who’s who of the Indian film industry. Alongside this, the show will also take a look at what films are worth watching out for in the Indian film circuit.
Anupama Chopra has previously hosted film-related shows for the television and she’s known for her trademark approach towards the subject. Saavn’s Vice President (Entertainment and Originals) Gaurav Wadhwa said in an interview: “One of the big things that work in India is films and Bollywood and that’s something that we have been working on since day one. We are very excited about Anupama’s show. She is a renowned film critic and journalist, and she is rooted in the film industry.”
Neha Dhupia’s original show entitled #NoFilterNeha will be all about the actor in conversation with a wide array of celebrities from the world of movies, fashion, sports and music. Neha Dhupia will be hosting the show in her own remarkable style. Gaurav Wadhwa said about the show: “It is a no-holds-barred, no-filter show. Neha’s personality is like that. There is a very funny side to her and she is very witty”. According to Wadhwa, the first season of Neha Dhupia’s show will begin airing from the middle of September, and it will feature a total of twelve episodes.
Speaking of Raghu Dixit, who is renowned for his upholding of folk music and combining it with modern elements, was brought on board Saavn’s AiR programme which will focus on independent and breakthrough artists: “Raghu caters to a very different audience because of his sound, which is so different and if you follow him you will realise he does packed shows no matter where he goes. He does everything from slow-romantic to heavy energy, but it is still very folk-influenced,” Wadhwa said.
Other shows that will debut on Saavn over the next month are Ek Kahaani Aisi Bhi and Passport Approved with Sat Bisla.
