It seems the reality of Rustom is more appealing to the audience than the dreamy world of Mohenjo Daro. At least the reaction of the audience is that. After the first weekend of the two most awaited and talked about movie release and the neck to neck fight in the box office, we have the sheer winner Rustom and the seer looser Mohenjo Daro. Though the ‘looser’ is not the apt term but it is really far from the status of the business of Rustom.
Rustom vs. Mohenjo Daro
From the very beginning of the release, Rustom grasped the market like a ferocious creature to its prey, but Mohenjo Daro lacked the intensity. Even if we talk about the plot the same sentence will be perfect. Rustom has such an intensity and maturity of the plot that dragged the attention of the audience. The inspiration from a real life event actually heightens the curiosity. But Mohenjo Daro depicted a class and society that is absolutely writer’s mind based. Only on the base of the ruin of an ancient the love, fight and power play were created which failed to hold the audience to its seat.

With every day, the collection increased and up we include the Monday collection too in this weekend (as it was a Holiday) the post weekend or the ‘extended weekend’ worked for the movie.

The growth of the movie hints that Rustom will enter the 100 crore club within the upcoming weekend.
Mohenjo Daro 1st Weekend Box Office Collection
Mohenjo Daro started weakly. Though according to the box office analyzes the movie had a great possibility. The concept of the ruined city of Mohenjo Daro is unique and the presence of Hrithik Roshan after a long gap of 2 years and the hit actor-director duo Hrithik and Ashutosh were a perfect blend of a hit. But the Rustom fever swept all the mathematical formulas I guess.
Friday – Rs. 08.87 crore
Saturday – Rs. 09.90 crore
Sunday – Rs. 11.20 crore
Monday– 10.50 crore
Total Domestic Collection – Rs.40.47 crore
No doubt 2016 is one of the best professional years of Akshay Kumar who is currently enjoying the status of the most mature actor of Bollywood with his choice of excellent subjects and at the same time ruling the box office who has three of the five biggest hits Rustom, Housefull 3 and Airlift of 2016 till now. The other two big hits are Sultan and Fan.
