Rings (2017): The first half of 2017 will play witness to a lot of horror movies hitting the movie theatres within quite a short span of time. Today’s horror movies vary vastly from the scare flicks of the past with the modern setting revolving more around the demonic psychological stories rather than actual ghosts or monsters. At a time wherethe horror genre is radically being redefined, Paramount pictures are all set to release the third movie in the much acclaimed Ring franchise in February 2017, titled Rings. Directed by F. Javier Gutirrez, produced by Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes, and written by David Loucka, Jacob Estes and Akiva Goldsman, Rings is slated to hit the big screens in the first half of 2017 and will reportedly follow a similar storyline as seen in the last two movies of the franchise.
Rings(2017) Plot
The original Ring films revolved around the life of journalist Rachel Keller portrayed by Naomi Watts and her experience with a mysterious videotape which turned out to be cursed. The second sequel to the movie is set 13 years after the events of the first two chapters with quite a similar premise about a video which kills the viewer seven days after s/he watches it. The official synopsis for Rings(2017) reads:
“A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…”
