Renault the French multinational automobile manufacturer is releasing its Megane family hatchback in India. The brand is already one of the leading names of Indian automobile business, and with the introduction of Megane the car is strengthening its value in India. The new Renault Megane will offer a greater focus on technology and style. Currently releasing for a petrol engine, the brand has a target to come up with a diesel hybrid in 2017. The sporty GT Nav version has adopted a much bolder look than before. The car has slated its price range from 15 to 18 lakhs.
The petrol version of the car is a 1.6-litre GT flagship model that is powered by the new generation Energy Tce 205 and capable of spitting out 151 kW of power. With 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox with a choice of a five-speed manual gearbox. The car also featured the air intakes and a black mesh grille at the front, rather than the standard chrome one. Megane RS’s tried and tested turbocharged 2.0-litre (F4Rt) four-cylinder that can give the power of 201kW at 5500rpm and 360Nm of torque at 3000rpm; the transversely-mounted engine gives the 1376kg front-wheel-drive Frenchy enough get-up to claim 0-100km/h in 6.0 seconds.
But that is not all! 18” alloy wheels (with a 17” spare wheel), electronic parking brake and paddle shift is part of its technological . The Renault Megane is built in such a way that a driver is also able to enhance the acoustic the engine sound with a choice of three different settings of Neutral, Comfort and Sport. The car made all the efforts to make the buy a worthy one. It includes Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, four speakers with 3-line 4.2 display, the wireless telephony, push-to-talk with smartphone voice recognition, offset terminal two USB plus jack, and audio streaming.
With the starting range of 19 lakh the car is definitely not targeting the lower middle-class section. Though some of Renault’s models are explicitly made for the middle-class like Renault Kwid, Pulse, Scala, Lodgy, Duster etc.
