Renault Kwid 1L Bookings Are Being Accepted at Dealerships

The Renault Kwid 1.0 L has caused a quite a stir among auto enthusiasts since its unveiling in February this year. Now amidst several rumours about the upcoming car’s possible launch date, it has been reported by several sources that the car is now available for booking. Ahead of the car’s expected launch within the month of August, several Renault dealerships have started accepting booking for the Kwid 1.0L. These dealerships are also apparently promising delivery of the car by October this year, according to some reports. However, these bookings are being done unofficially, and some dealerships, including one in Chennai, have denied any participation in the matter.

The specifications of the yet to be launched car have not been provided by the company in detail. But since we know that the car will be running on a 1.0 L, three cylinder Sce(Smart control efficiency) engine, it will be expected to churn out65-70 hp,and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The fuel efficiency of the Kwid1.0 L may perhaps be a little lower than the car’s 0.8 L variant’s 25.17 KM/L average.

Varied reports have concluded that the Kwid1.0 L will also feature the inclusion of dual airbags as an option, and an ABS (anti-lock braking system) may also be on the cards. These are in keeping with the French auto manufacturer’s guarantee that the new car willfar exceed Indian safety norms.

The car is expected to measure around 3679 mm in length, 1579 mm in width and 1478 mm in height. It will have a wheelbase of 2422mm with a fuel tank capacity of 28 L. The car is speculated to be priced somewhere between 3.3 to 4.2 Lakhs. Upon its launch, the car will be pitted against existing models like the Maruti Alto K10, the Hyundai Eon 1.0L, and the Tata Tiago 1.2 petrol.

An AMT variant of the Kwidwas also showcased by Renault at the 2016 Auto-Expo, which is expected to launchlater.
