Red Dead Redemption 2: The long wait for Red Dead Redemption 2, the upcoming title in Rockstar‘s acclaimed Red Dead series, is finally over. The developer has announced that the game will be out for PS4 and Xbox One in the fall of 2017. This is in line with our guess that Rockstar may choose to release Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2016 itself, despite officials having insisted before that no announcements about the title should be expected before 2017. The developer added that an official trailer will be released on October 20.

Only recently a new domain by the name of RedDeadOnline was spotted by Twitter users, which hinted at a new multiplayer mode for a Red Dead instalment in the manner of Rockstar’s other game GTA Online. In the announcement, officials have confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature a “vast and atmospheric world” which will “provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”

Rockstar has been teasing Red Dead Redemption 2 for a while now, with the developer being actively engaged in a campaign for the brand new upcoming game. Within a difference of several hours, the official logo of Rockstar underwent a dramatic change in colour scheme  and an image wholly reminiscent of 2010’s Red Dead Redemption surfaced featuring seven gunslinging and cowboy hat-donning figures in the distance against a bright red horizon. But many were apprehensive of seeing these as direct references to a game whose existence was not even confirmed. In the new poster for Red Dead Redemption 2 that has been released today, we can get a much better look at those seven figures from yesterday’s teaser.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has long been rumoured to feature multiple playable protagonists in the manner of GTA 5. The upcoming game will also supposedly be set during a timeline before the events of Red Dead Redemption had taken place. None of these rumours has been confirmed yet, but now that we have been made aware of the game’s existence, we may not have to wait too long to find out more about its various features. Rockstar has already launched an official website for Red Dead Redemption 2.

We will be sure to keep you updated.
