Rajan Gone, Swamy Now Seeks Removal of PM’s Chief Economic Adviser

Following an intense campaign against RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, BJP Rajya Sabha MPSubramanian Swamy has now made a fresh demand. On the micro-blogging site called Twitter, the MP has demanded the immediate removal ofArvind Subramanian, Prime Minister Modi’sChief Economic Adviser (CEA) for encouraging Congress’s rigid stance on the GST clauses.

Swamy took to Twitter to slam the CEA and urge the government to look into the matter seriously. He said, “Guess who encouraged Congi to become rigid on GST clauses? Jaitley’s economic adviser Arvind Subramanian of Washington DC.” In another tweet, he said,“Who said to US Cong on 13/3/13 the US should act against India to defend US Pharmaceuticals interests? Arvind Subramanian MoF!! Sack him !!”

The BJP MP said he would be taking up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He accusedSubramanian of urging US Congress to act against India and defend US Pharmaceuticals interests, in turn harming the interest of the country.

Meanwhile,Congress leader Digvijaya Singh condemned Swamy for the hostile stance he has taken againstArvind Subramanian. His Tweet reads, “Is Modi handing over Finance Ministry to Subramaniam Swami?” And he further tweeted,“Subramaniam Swami now guns for Arvind Subramanian Economic Advisor to NDA. Target is Arun Jaitley, not Arvind Subramanian.”

To recall, following Swamy’svitriolic en-devours to question RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan’s integrity and competence, he denied a second term as the head of the central bank. He a colleague that he’ll return to academics.
