‘Raees’ Postponed to Avoid Clash With Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’

Following Fan’s shaky reception, news has tumbled out that Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Raees’ has been postponed. The reason they gave is that, they don’t want the film to clash withSalman Khan starer film ‘Sultan’. But many believethat the real reason behind thisis the mellow reception of ‘Fan’. This is the first time in the last couple of years that a hit Shah Rukh Khan film hasn’t touched 100 crore.

Raees‘ is being produced byFarhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment. The film is directed byRahul Dholakia and was previously scheduled to be released onRepublic Day 2017. But now the release date has been pushed back. It’s worth noting that the Shah Rukh has never shied away from a clash, even in the face of tough competition. To recall, Dilwale went againstBajirao Mastani,Om Shanti Om had gone againstSaawariya whileTak Hai Jaan went againstSon of Sardar. Shah Rukh’s film has previously gone against much-awaited film and has yet managed to hit theRs 100 crore club.

Almost all major holidays are booked for film releases likeAamir Khan’s Dangal is going to come out in Christmas,Akshay Kumar’s Rustom will have an Independence Day opening,Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay comes in Diwali, while Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Ajay Devgn’s Baadshaho is eyeing the Republic Day 2017 release.

Regarding the reschedulingFarhan, Ritesh and Shah Rukh released an official statement saying,“it was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that this film is highly anticipated. However, a movie of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26 January 2017.”
