Radhika Apte is one of the finest stars in the Bollywood. She is the new generation actress who is known to speak her heart out in public. This time, Radhika Apte spoke about sexual harassment and her views are spot on! Putting a light on one of the crucial problems in the industry, Radhika Apte said that sexual abuse is not just limited to women, she even knows several men who have been subjected to the misdemeanor as such.
After Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein made headlines for sexually harassing many women, more and more woman are opening up about this problem. As far as Bollywood is concerned, Priyanka Chopra, Dia Mirza, Swara Bhaskar and many others have opened up about this problem in the industry. Not only females, Irrfan Khan was the first male celeb who opened up about this experience when he was asked for favors on the bed.

“Not just women, men also go through sexual abuse. I am specifically talking about the industry, I know a lot of men who have gone through this as well. It’s high time this comes out. Also, as the industry becomes more open and people from different parts come here – not just for people from their own production house or family – it’s more important that we have a platform. People who exploit their power and abuse others need to be revealed. On the other hand, people are ambitious and are ready to do what is required. It needs to work from both the sides,”

Radhika Apte further said that everyone should learn to say no and speak up in front of all while trying to be exploited by someone. She said that Bollywood industry is not a magical place, it’s a workplace and every workplace should have work ethics to be followed.

“The fear is there because we still have this culture where Bollywood is considered to be this inaccessible, magical place. But it’s not. It’s a workplace. Work ethics need to be introduced at every level. That’s happening. But people have to come out and start taking names. The fear also comes from, ‘Who is going to believe me? The other person has so much power. My complaint will go unnoticed, that’ll ruin my career.’ That’s the perception. I think more people need to speak up.

Well said Radhika. On the work front, Radhika will be next seen in Akshay Kumar’s Padman.
