The much-awaited movie ‘Parched’ starring the immensely talented Radhika Apte, who rose to fame with films like Hunterrr, Badlapur and Shor in the City, was something that everyone was looking forward to with bated breath. Apparently, an issue like the online leak was something that caused a lot of trouble for the director of the movie Leena Yadav, and that did not stop there. Even though the film received a lot of positive feedbacks, both nationally and internationally, the Rabari community in Gujarat was not really filled with all praises for it as their claim was that the outfits used in the movie had a resemblance with the women of the Rabari community. They even went to the extent of threatening the director’s husband, Aseem Bajaj to take the film out of the theatres.

The movie Parched deals with the life of three women who lead a stereotypical life in a village in Rajasthan, where the men are proud of their chauvinistic attitude towards the weaker sex, and leaves no way out for the women when it comes to their personal freedom. Even though Radhika Apte, Tannistha Chatterjee, and Surveen Chawla gave their very best regarding portraying the apparent pathos faced by women in the male-dominated society, the movie did not fail to bring forward the dream, life and aspiration of these women successfully. The director who is facing problems with the Rabari community in Gujarat in regards to the costume has filed a complaint with the Osiwara police in Mumbai.

A proper negotiation with those who were making threat calls to Aseem Bajaj was done but due to their unacceptability of the agreement and the Gujarat High Courts notice to the central government for the ban of the film led to the situation where there will be a hearing in the court today.
