Premier League 2016-17 is back in the headlines once again, thanks to the trend of the sacking of managers in different clubs that are playing in the top flight domestic league this season. This time the news has come from the Middlesbrough camp stating that manager Aitor Karanka has been sacked from his managerial responsibilities. And for the time being, assistant of Karanka will take the responsibility of the leading the campaign back on track this season.
Middlesbrough did make a promising start this season. However, things fell apart as they are currently in danger of getting relegated from the top flight domestic tournament in England. The current situation owes a lot to the winless streak which has now extended up to 10 games. And this decision comes at such a juncture which puts Middlesbrough in the danger of getting relegated to the second round which will hurt them financially as well. This prospect of suffering from financial losses have somewhat forced the owners to take such a decision.
In the club statement that has been released, it has been announced that “Both parties have agreed that it is in the best interests of the club to make this change. The club would like to thank Aitor for all his hard work over the past three and a half years and for the success we’ve had during that time. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Of late Middlesbrough has suffered a number of defeats, the last one coming at the hands of Manchester City which ended up with a 2-0 scoreline. And it turned out to be the last match for Aitor Karanka at the helm of the Middlesbrough. Karanka has failed to complete a season as a manager of the club which he dragged on to the Premier League last season.
Steve Agnew will come in a replacement for Karanka. He will take the hot seat of the manager of Middlesbrough from the match against Manchester United which is scheduled to be played at their home ground coming Sunday.
