Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Israel from July 4 to July 6 at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He would be welcomed in a unique way when he lands at the Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday. His welcome party would include the Israeli Prime Minister along with heads of major religious sects.

The Israeli Prime Minister will accompany Modi throughout Modi’s three days in the country, a reception that is reserved for the US president and the Pope. He would leave Modi’s side only during Modi’s meeting with the leader of the opposition and the President of Palestine.

Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel and his visit is aimed at bringing the two countries and people closer. He revealed that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. India and Israel have reaffirmed their support in the fight against terrorism. Modi called terrorism a global menace and said that India and Israel aren’t immune to it either. He said that India and Israel are in agreement to exterminate the groups that inflict violence on innocent people.

The director for Asia-Pacific at the Israeli foreign office, Mark Sofer is in charge of organizing everything during Modi’s visit and he said that unlike many other countries, Israel is very open in its support to India on fighting terrorism.

Modi, on the other hand, cleared that he was committed to the Indian view of a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Modi would hold a summit with Netanyahu at the King David Hotel which would also be Modi’s residence. US President Donald Trump also stayed at the same hotel, although his stay involved a lot of other preparations. Modi is perfectly okay with a red-carpet welcome. He would stay in the same suite as Trump and the hotel is scrambling to find vegetarian Indian dishes. The only non-vegetarian meal available would be fish for Modi’s delegations. No other meat would be allowed in the kitchens of the hotel during the course of Modi’s stay. The tea served at the hotel would also be of the Indian variety. The bar has been moved out of the hotel.

Modi and Netanyahu will avail the use of new technologies and would speak directly to the people using either a Facebook Live chat or a Periscope chat with their people, instead of using the traditional media. Modi will not visit the Western Wall in the old city, unlike Trump. His visit is aimed at focusing on strengthening the partnership between India and Israel in all spheres.
