Game of Thrones Season 7

With the end of the long-awaited season, 6 of Game of Thrones, talks of the next season are in full swing. The show-writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have already announced the names of those at the helm of the next season. Among them is Alan Taylor, who worked for seasons 1 and 2 of the celebrated show, directing the concluding episodes of the first season. Jeremy Podeswa, who has been with the show since season 5 and has directed the crucial opening episodes of season 6. The Red Woman and Home; Mark Mylod, who has directed the episodes entitled The Broken Man and No One in season 6; and finally Matt Shakman who despite being a newcomer, has celebrated shows like the Fargo mini-series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia under his belt.

However, it seems that the arrival of winter in Westeros is threatening to be an impediment to the fans of the show who cannot wait for season 7 to air, considering the “explosive” ending of the last season. When asked if the next season will air in April as usual, the writer-duo confirmed that there would be a delay in the commencement of production owing to the present grimness of the weather conditions in Westeros. Summer in most of the European shooting locations used for the show subsides only after September, which means that production can be postponed by a few months for a faithful representation of the brutal Westerosi winter. Besides this, season 7 will also be the first season to have less than ten episodes, thus indicating that the conflicts that have built up over so long are nearing their end; the show-runners are ready to wrap up the epic show.

But this has not dampened the fans’ enthusiasm about the next season in any way. The show is moving steadily towards its climax and with all things slowly falling in place, we can be sure that the concluding seasons will be a nail-biting experience.
