Interestingly, Persona 5 is a blend of realistic elements along with magical ones to keep it relatable even as players explore the game’s parallel worlds and its Dungeons. Players will be able to go through daily activities that keep them rooted in its real world modern day Tokyo setting, but aided by their Personas, they will explore the metaphysical world that houses most of the game’s action. Below we have compiled a list of elements that make up Persona 5, including the locations that the game uses and some of the gameplay mechanics.
Persona 5 Background: The game is the sixth instalment in the chief Persona series and like the earlier games, contains a host of cool supernatural elements to the story that follows a bunch of high school kids who double as vigilantes and venture through a mystical land called Palace. Persona 5 opts for a metaphysical approach to reality: it revolves around the theme of liberation from the bindings of modern society and the characters’ outlaw-like “Personas” are the exterior manifestations of their psyche.
Persona 5 Overview and Locations: The game takes place in the Persona universe itself and begins at an unknown time in the second millennium which is simply known as 20XX. Persona 5 uses real-life inspirations for its locations such as movie theatres and supermarkets in and around Tokyo, as this post points out. Coming to the parallel world called Palace, it is made out of the amalgamated hearts of humans, and it holds multiple structures that range from older architecture to modern day inspired locations like art galleries. But what was once a positive world made from the hopes of people, it has now been corrupted by the escalation of ill intentions in people’s hearts, especially the authorities.
In a strain of similarity with the earlier games, the leader of the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts”, the main playable character, remain silent throughout the game. He is joined by a bunch of other characters who appear as the game progresses. The game covers the events of one year in the life of the protagonist.
Persona 5 Gameplay: Persona 5 will allow players to partake in several routine activities like school and jobs and creating useful items, among others, experience gained through which will in turn affect the character’s aptitude in battle. Players will also be able to explore two different types of locations (dungeons) within the Palace in which the player can carry the requests of other non-playable characters to fruition. While navigating through Palace and solving its puzzles, the player will require practising stealth in order to evade the enemy’s sight. The game’s “Alertness Meter” heightens security in the area whenever the player and his party are spotted, and this can ultimately result in the team’s eviction from the Palace. The level of Alertness can be lowered by attacking and eliminating the enemies.
Coming to the combat system, the player will have access to an array of long-range and short-range weapons to help them in battle. In addition, players will be able to summon their Personas through the mask that each character wears, and with their help the party to launch physical as well as magical attacks on the enemy. Enemies have their particular weaknesses, and utilising that successfully will earn the player new turns.
Persona 5 will have dynamic weather and day-night system, with each affording their own advantages and disadvantages during gameplay. The external situations will reflect upon the characters’ behaviour much in the same way as real life.
