It seems there is no reassurance for Padmavati and the director Sanjay Leela Bansali! The movie is going through a very tough time since the announcement of it. According to the recent news after the fateful event of the attack on the director Sanjay Leela Bansali in Jodhpur at the time of shooting, now the set has been targeted and tried to burn by some unidentified men in Kolhapur. After the Jodhpur incident, it is the second time some tried to damage the making of the film, the reasons are same again.
Armed with lathis and stones, around 40-50 unruly men entered the set to burn it down with petrol bombs. They also damaged few cars outside the set. After the police report some got caught and the shooting is again on hold till the situation is under control. The thought of distorting history and damaging the reputation and honor is the sole reason of the attack. But it is too funny as there is no such thing the director is attempting. They claim that there is scene of romance between Alauddin Khilji and queen Padmavati that never happened. But according to the makers there is no such scene in the film too. Moreover, the character of Padmavati has many theories among the historians. For some historians, she is a real character, but some failed to identify her. While, the official record of Padmavati was first written in an epic poem named Padmavati by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, who was a 16th century Sufi poet.
Padmavati is the dream project of director Sanjay Leela Bansali, who faced many troubles for the film. While there was an issue of finding actors, then the producer and now the political threat. It seems too scary in India to make movies that need its creative freedom.
Karni Sena took the responsibility of the Jaipur incident, but the men behind the Kolhapur fire is still unidentified. Meanwhile, the director, actors and the crew members are reported to be safe.
