Tatiana Masalany’s critically acclaimed science fiction TV series Orphan Black will have just one more season left, said the producers much to the dismay of all Orphan Black fans around the globe. BBC America and Canadian network partner Space made the joint pickup of the Tatiana Maslany-starrer for, Orphan Black a 10-episode fifth and final season to air in 2017.
Orphan Black overview: Plot and Cast
It all started on a train platform. A troubled woman, Beth Childs (Maslany), locked eyes with an unknown identical woman, Sarah Manning (Maslany), before jumping to her death. From that day on, they’ve been inextricably linked to a clone conspiracy that has come to rule Sarah’s life. The cast includes Maslany, Ari Millen, Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Skyler Wexler, Kevin Hanchard, Evelyne Brochu, Kristian Bruun and Josh Vokey. Joining the cast would be Patrick J. Adams who will reprise his role as Helena’s love interest in the final season.

Orphan Black Season 5 Story Spoilers:
Tatiana Maslany, in her interview regarding the upcoming season of Orphan Black, revealed certain storyline aspects of the latest upcoming season laying special stress on her characters, Helena and Alison. She said that the two characters might start the season on a more comfortable footing than the previous seasons.
The last episodes of the series left several characters in some dire situations. On episode 10, Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) got into a serious accident. It still remains unclear if the Sarah will survive her grave injuries in Orphan Black Season 5.
Meanwhile, her daughter Kira Manning (Skyler Wexter) and adoptive mother Siobhan Sadler (Maria Doyle Kennedy) were kidnapped by antagonist Ferdinand Chevalier (James Frain). There is also a possibility of blood as Rachel Duncan (Tatiana Maslany) tried opening the door for Westmoreland. All of these events spell bad news for the characters in Orphan Season 5. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Graeme Manson admitted that any more major deaths in the future episodes are still uncertain. He also added that there are some characters in the series that are too important to kill and he chooses not to disclose why.
Update: In Season 4, viewers saw some of the clones going to very dark paths. Maslany said the clones are going to have different endings while there will be few who will experience happiness. The showrunners of the sci-fi series have reportedly said in an interview that the new season of the series will introduce a “new branch of contemporary science.” Gavaris also said that there will be no new clones in the final season but he also teased that there will be never-before-seen genetic copies.
