In one of the recent events staged by Ola Inc., the car-hailing aggregator is all set to open a Motor Training Institute where it will provide skill development training to as many as 50 lakh drivers. First-of-its-kind, the training centre for drivers will help amateur and aspiring learners to get knowledge regarding driving, traffic rules, vehicle insurance, licences, and much more.
The institute will be open under the partnership of Rise India and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) located in Chapradistrict, Bihar. It further aims to launch similar training centres in every niche regions, districts of all States in India. The target has been set to be achieved by next 5 years and adding up 50 lakh drivers would help in providing better services to its customers. The company plans to achieve the target by 2022 thus registering thousands of skilled drivers for appropriate skilled jobs.
The drivers would have access to vehicles, capitals, insurance, etc. in presence of financial institutions as well as car manufacturers at very low rates. The company made an announcement regarding the first dedicated training centre thus giving them skill development along with entrepreneurship skills. The occasion was held in the presence of Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari; Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.
According to Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO,Ola,The mobility sector in the country is seeing growth and has the potential to empower individuals from all walks of life to become micro-entrepreneurs.
Earlier, Ola tied up with Mahindra & Mahindra to provide loans on vehicles for almost 40,000 driving partners. It also initiated FlexiLoans for drivers who come under ‘business and need-based’ loans amounting up to Rs. 1,00,000. Also, it has started ‘Ola Star’ where it opts for the best rated drivers among the unit especially in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.
