Microsoft-acquired Nokia is all set to reveal their first android smartphone in the market and it seems that further information regarding Nokia’s smartphone line-up has surfaced. Fresh reports suggest that Nokia may announce Nokia D1 and E1 smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 and the rumour mill surrounding the smartphones are on a steady increase. Initially, the Nokia D1 was supposed to be the lone android offering but the latest developments hint at another smartphone, the Nokia E1 which is slated to be a lower variant of the D1.
The leaked sketches of Nokia D1 and Nokia E1 are said to have surfaced from a well-known source that has a good track record of revealing leaked information of prototype leaks from Nokia and Microsoft in the past. According to the latest reports, the D1 by Nokia will be rolled out in two different variants- with one of the variants being E1. Although no concrete information regarding the same is official as of yet, the D1 aka the Nokia D1C will definitely have more than one variant based on size and storage capacity. By the looks of the sketches, it is quite clearly visible that the Nokia D1 and E1 differ from each other physically with the E1 having a similar framework to the Lumia series of smartphones by Nokia with sharp-cornered edges. In comparison, the D1 even though of the same size, has rounded edges.
The larger model will have a 5.5-inch full HD display, 3 GB of RAM and 16-megapixel rear snapper while the lower variant will sport a 5-inch full HD display, 2 GB of RAM, and 13-megapixel rear shooter. In terms of the chipset inside the devices, both the Nokia D1 variants will run on 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 430 processor by Qualcomm. Nokia’s first android offering will come with pre-installed Android 7.0 Nougat as well as a 8 MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfie purposes.
There is no word yet on the availability of the device from Nokia and further information will only be available post the MWC 2017 where Nokia is pegged to launch their devices. Coming to the price, the 5-inch model is expected to be priced at 999 Yuan ($144) while the premium 5.5-inch model will be priced at 1,299 Yuan ($187).
