The Bollywood is trying to get away from the stereotypical trend of male-centric lead role movies. Now there are many movies in which the lead roles are played by women. Directors and production houses have now started to trust female lead movies instead of male stars like the Khan’s or the Hrithik’s or the John’s. We have already seen such incidence in the previous year like “Dirty Picture” and “Kahani” and others due to which Bollywood has started to believe that a film can be a blockbuster without the presence of a strong male lead character.
Let’s look at some movies coming this summer with female protagonists:-
Begum Jaan:
VidyaBalan is again back with her charismatic presence in the new movie “Begum Jaan.” After giving some blockbuster hits previously like “Kahani,” Kahaani 2,”Dirty Picture,” she is again going to carry “Begum Jaan” on her shoulder. The movie is all set to release on 21st April 2017. The lead role is played by VidyaBalan who is a brothel owner during the partition time.
NaamShabana:
The film cast TaapseePannu in the lead role, who plays the role of Shabana, a special agent. The film is already released. The movie is critically acclaimed and promises a good business too. Thus it is obvious that viewers now are encouraging too such powerful films.
Maatr:
RaveenaTandon, in her next movie, is playing the role of a mother who will take justice against her daughter’s death. The film portrays the insecurity and fear of Delhi women. It is set to release on 21st April this year.
Phillauri:
Again the lead role in the movie is played by Anushka Sharma. She plays the role of a friendly ghost in the movie. The film is recently released on 24th March.
Noor:
SonakshiSinha, after her action entertainer last year with “Akira,” is back with “Noor” this year, where she is playing the lead role of the movie. The movie talks about a millennial journalist whose clumsy life takes an 180 degree turn when she finally started to feel that she should take her life seriously. It is all set to release on 21st April, 2017.
Anaarkali of Aarah:
SwaraBhaskar’s movie is already out in the theater, and the movie is gaining a lot of praise for her acting. The movie talks about the story of an erotic singer who is going through molestation and how she fights back in the end.
Gone are days when Bollywood actress means the damsel in distress. Now the female actresses are giving a tough fight to the male stars. While some of the movies are already released, some are being waited eagerly to release!
