Fans are excited about the much-hyped film “Indu Sarkar” directed and produced by Madhur Bhandarkar. The filmmakers revealed the first look of the film. Neil Nitin Mukesh will portray Sanjay Gandhi in the film based on 1975 Emergencies. Although the project is veiled in total secrecy, it is confirmed from images, that Neil Nitin Mukesh plays the role of Sanjay Gandhi and Supriya Vinod plays the role of IndiraGandhi.
The film will spark a lot of controversies especiallypolitical controversy as well as debates as it is based on the untold stories dealing with Emergencies in a cinematic fashion. The film is based on Emergency, a 21 month long period from 1975 to 1977 when a state of Emergency was declared in the country.
The cast of the movie includes Tota Roy Chowdhury, Kirti Kulhari, Anupam Kher and Neil Nitin Mukesh in pivotal roles. Bappi Lahiri and Anu Malik are collaborating for the first time to create music for the movie. The film will be shot in Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune. The movie went on the floors in mid-December. The National Award winning director wrapped up the movie in 41 days. At ND studio in Karjat, Madhur Bhandarkar recreated Delhi of the mid-70s.
Sources reveal that Neil underwent a transformation to look alike Sanjay Gandhi. Prosthetic makeup artists from abroadworked with him. He had been researching a lot on Gandhi’sand had been reading a lot of Emergency period. After Jail in 2009, this is the second collaboration between Neil Nitin Mukesh and Madhur Bhandarkar.
The director made Subramanium Swamy to gather information regarding the Emergency period. With the name Indu in the title, it is expected that the film would have a direct reference to Indira Gandhi. Kirti Kulhari plays the role of a poetess who has speech problems.
Indu Sarkar is expected to release in 2017.
