HMD Global, which makes smartphones under the Nokia brand, has launched the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5, and the Nokia6 for global users. The evergreen Nokia 3310 too has made a comeback. When the CEO of HMD Global,CEO Arto Nummela, made the announcement, there was widespread applause in the audience and every social media site went into a furious frenzy, extolling the virtues of the legendary handset.
Nokia Eyes Boosted Global Sales
The four devices launched at the Mobile World Congress event does not take into account the Nokia 8, which was rumoured to be on the cards. The new Nokia 3 has been announced to be coming soon to Indian shores. It has a 5-inch HD display and comes with an 8-MP front camera with a wide-angleview available for better selfies as well as video calling. The new Nokia 3 has been priced at 139 euros, which translates into $146 or just a shade over Rs 9700. The new Nokia 3 will ship in Q2 of this year and will be available in colour options of blue, copper, black, and silver. The new smartphone has been carved from a single block of aluminum. Gorilla Glass protection will be an added advantage.
The new Nokia 6, till now availableonly in China, will come to Indian shores soon. The Nokia 6 will have a flagship design and will have a 5.2-inch screen. The phone has a smart amplifier that powers two speakers which combined with the Dolby ATMOS will provide an enhanced sound system. The Nokia 6 will also have a splendid special edition with a piano black finish which will come for 229 euros or over Rs. 16,000. A higher end version will come for399 euros as well. This set will be powered by a Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM besides 64GB of internal storage. A non-removable 3000mAh will support fast-charging capability as well.
The Nokia 5 will have a 5.2inch screen with a perfect 3D shape, as announced at the MWC 2017. It is said to have done away with the antenna problem and has moved it to the top. The rear thus resembles a beautiful aluminum-finished panel. The Nokia 5 will retail fortempered blue, copper, black, and silver. It will have a resolution of 720×1280 pixels which, alongside 2GB of RAM and a decent 12-megapixel rear camera, will retail for189 euros or Rs 13,330
The Nokia 3 has been designed keeping in mind the budget smartphone market. It is affordable and will be coming to India soon. It has a 5-inch display and has 2GB of RAM paired with 16GB of storage Under the hood is an MTK 6737 quad-core processor. Unlike the bigger cousins, it has apolycarbonate back ensconced within an aluminum frame. This phone will retail for 139 euros or just under Rs 9800 and has an 8-MP rear camera. The phone will launch in Q2 of this year.
Nokia 3310 Revamped
The Nokia 3310, the doyen of many eyes, was also confirmed at the MWC 2017. While the hardware specs were not announced in detail, the phone will retail at a mere $52 and will be launched globally. This will be a feature phone and will provide limited internet capabilities. It will rely on 2.5G connectivity and will have lower speed when compared to 3G or 4G network. Powered by the S30+ operating system, it has a single 2MP camera. This phone will be expected to relive Nokia’s golden past.
