‘Mohenjo Daro’

The much awaited ‘Mohenjo Daro’ will be released soon, on 12th August. But there is a good news for all the cast and crew of the movie, as it has been selected as the Closing Film on 13th August 2016 at the 69th Locarno International Film Festival which is being held from August 3 to 13, 2016. Locarno Film Festival is one of Europe’s highly estimated and widely attended film festivals. The aim of the annual fest is to discover great films from around the world. ‘Mohenjo Daro’ will be screened at the ‘Piazza Grande’ which is one of the finest open-air venues in the world.

This is not the first time that Ashutosh Gowariker is going to the Locarno International Film Festival. After ‘Lagaan’, the movie that went to Oscars was screened in this festival too. So for the director, this is quite an emotional moment. “I am extremely happy to know that the Locarno Film Festival has selected ‘Mohenjo Daro’ as their Closing Film at the Piazza Grande!” He also added it was an out-of-the-world experience to see an audience of 8000 plus of different nationalities, applaud the film, and he wants the history to repeat and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ to get the same love and appreciation as ‘Laggan’.

Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker, this historical drama is based on the ancient civilisation of ‘Mohenjo Daro’. The movie belongs to that part of history which is yet to reveal fully and the era that has always been a matter of curiosity among many. With Hrithik Roshan and the stunning debutant Pooja Hegde, the movie trailer and songs are already making the audiences curious. But the fans of Hrithik’s have to wait till 12th of August to see and rediscover the most remarkable time in world history.
