Transfer speculations regarding Real Madrid are still at large even though the European Champions are on a transfer ban which will prevent them from signing any new players till January 2018. And the latest reports regarding about whom Los Blancos involve two of Madrid’s best signing in recent times, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria.
According to Spanish daily newspaper Marca, both zil and Di Maria, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain after his dismal spell at United, are keen on a return to the current European champions Real after leaving them in the last few years. zil left Spain in 2013 to join Arsenal while Di Maria left a year later to head to Old Trafford where he endured a very disappointing season.
The Germany international was excellent as Madrid won their only La Liga title of the last eight seasons, during Jose Mourinho’s second season as coach. But 12 months later he was pushed out of the club when Perez needed to raise funds to pay for the world record transfer arrival of Gareth Bale in summer 2013. Di Maria’s exit was a bigger suprise, as well as a disappointment for Real Madrid fans after the Argentine International was sold to United even after being named Man of the match in the 2014 Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid.
Along with a huge number of Real Madrid fans around the world, the disappointment of losing perhaps two of these extremely talented midfielders was clearly not taken bu their Portuguese team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo who had expressed his anger towards the management for taking such decisions. The Striker clearly had an excellent on-field understanding with Ozil and Di Maria which was pretty much visible considering Los Blancos scored 121 goals scored in the entire season besides the Spanish League title. Whether the Portuguese superstar will get to feature alongside his former team-mates at the Bernabeu soon is the question which does arise in a person’s head. Although, there isn’t any way Madrid can actually bring in any players until the ban imposed on them by FIFA is lifted.
Ozil is still negotiating with Arsenal over a contract extension since he is only tied to the gunners until 2018 and unless there is a contract with a fairly substantial pay scale offered to him, there might well be a chance that he decides to continue the rest of his career at the Spanish capital. Di Maria, since his move from Madrid has been unable to find any consistent piece of form in both his spells at United as well as PSG and the talented Argentine winger might also just be considering his options as well keeping in mind that he had played his best bit of football at the Bernabeu.
With the Real squad already full of the best players in the world and a host of talented youngsters, will Fiorentino Perez actually go for his former recruits or will both these players sign for different clubs and come back to the Bernabeu as the away side?
We can only shed more light on this post-January 2018.
