Kirti Kulhari had got excellent reviews for her stalwart performance in the Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Pink.’ And now the actress is all set to come up with her first major leading role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious project ‘Indu Sarkar. Set in the Independence Era, the film has Kirti playing the role ofIndira Gandhi. The movie is the talk of the town for a long time, and now finally Madhur has gone ahead and released the film’s first look.

Kirti had earlier said while talking about her role, that“Indu is raised in an orphanage and has a stammering problem but loves to write and read poetry. After ‘Pink,’ I wanted to do something that would challenge me further as an actor. We want to create the same impact as Tabu’s turn in ‘Chandni Bar’ with my character.”

The film stars ‘Pink’ fame Kirti Kulhari in thetitle role, has been in the news for its controversial subject and its director’s track record. The film also stars Madhur’s ‘Jail’ lead Neil Nitin Mukesh in a pivotal role. Madhur also revealed the first poster, a poignant and firebrand homage to its temperamental protagonist.

Madhur is known for his serious and social ventures where he alwayshighlighted one character and through whom he has given a clear pictureof a society or culture and some malpractice. HisChandni Bar is a depiction of the darkened world of prostitution, poverty, and underworld. while his Heroine and Fashion were a take on the frustration, politics and power game behind the glossy world of Bollywood and fashion industry.Jail was about the lives of the prisoners. so no doubt the upcoming movie Indu Sarkar is Madhur’s first political movie and it will be interesting after few flops like Jail, Corporate, Heroine, whetherthe star director can justify his skill, different thinking and excellence like a true artist.

The film is set for a 2017 release.
