LeEco may have started out as a company that offered video streaming services, but it has quickly emerged as one of the keyplayers in the South-east Asian mobile phone markets. But LeEco has no plans to stop short of going truly global now. The company has made it very clear that they are planning to expand their customer base to the US. But such a special occasion should be marked by new launches. At an event in California that LeEco will host on October 19, the company could launch some of its newly released hits like the Snapdragon 821 powered LeEco Le Pro 3. But what’s a global launch without brand new smartphones that are yet to see the light of the day anywhere? Well, it appears that the Chinese smartphone giant is on the same page as us.
According to a few new leaks, LeEco is currently working on two new smartphones. An image of one of these smartphones has been spotted on Chinese social networking website Weibo. Even though the image came with no other added information about the device in question, youcan clearly see that it is quite a sleek looking handset with rounded corners. But the picture does not feature the phone in full, so we can’t see any of its major details like the home button.
The other smartphone in question is one that has been rumoured for quite sometime and was spotted listed on theChinese certification agencyTENAA under the model number LEX652 back in late August. Since then, not much has been heard about the (presumably)LeEco Le 2S‘s possible release timeline, but it’s probably not too far away. Coming to the LeEco Le 2S‘s specifications, the upcoming smartphone willsport a 5.5-inch IPS display with a pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920. At the back, the LeEco Le 2S sports a twin camera set up, with two 13 megapixel units placed horizontlly, while the secondary camera is an 8 megapixel one. The smartphone also sports a fingerprint scanner housed on the back panel below the primary camera unit.
Under the hood, the LeEco Le 2S is powered by a MediaTek Helio X25 chipset with a deca-core 2.5GHz CPU alongside a Mali-T880 GPU and 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage. The LeEco Le 2S will come with Android 6.0 pre-installed and run LeEco’s eUI skin on top. The device will sport an all-metal build and will house a 3,900mAh battery unit inside its slim 7.5mm body. Colour options include Gold, Silver, Black, Pink Gold, and White.
It is not clear if LeEco will release any of these phones at the California event in October. But it would make sense if the company were to seal their official venture into the country with a bunch of cool new smartphones.
