KTM has decided to recall the 1290 Super Adventure on all models from 2015 and 2016. The name ‘SUPER ADVENTURE’ denotes the advanced onboard with the safety systems. The ride mode technology along with the motorcycle traction control (MTC). Possible oil leak from the semi-active shock is one of the reasons the bike was facing issues. This oil leak results in damage to the interior of the shock absorber and that lead to impair its function.
Currently, the bike is coming back with improved version. The bike is coming with four gears: “Street”, “Sport”, “Rain” and” Offroad”. The traction control allows different types of slippage. “Street” mode comes with light slippage, “Sport” with controlled wheelspin, and “Offroad” mode will be helping in 100% slippage (double wheel speed) for aggressive off-road riders.
KTM heads revealed their goals and the damage control policies, regarding the oil leaking problem in the press conference:
“customers of affected motorcycles will be contacted in writing and are asked to immediately contact an authorised KTM dealer to arrange an inspection. In addition, customers can check online to see if their motorcycle is affected by the recall in the ‘service’ area on the KTM website.”
