Kristen Stewart says she is ‘really in love’ with girlfriend Alicia Cargile. The news is not a total shocker because it has been presumed for quite some time. ButStewart never openly mentionedAlicia Cargile’s name nor did she ever talk about dating other women, until now.
Earlier when she was asked about her sexuality in an interview, Kristen said she had nothing to hide, people can simply see and figure out. Back in May,Kristen talked with Variety’s Ramin Setoodeh (the same interviewer who asked Cate Blanchett, ahead of Carol’srelease, if she’d ever been in a relationship with women, and misquoted her), about her sexual identity. She didn’t know how to label herself but wanted to make sure people knew she is part of the LGBT community. Regarding this, the actor said:“I find the movement that’s occurring to be so important, that I want to be part of it. Me not defining it right now is the whole basis of what I’m about. If you don’t get it, I don’t have time for you.”
Of course,Kristen has never hidden her relationship withAlicia Cargile – the subtle public kisses, hand-holdingover a sushi date post-Cannes trip – had given away pretty much everything. As for formal public recognition,K-Stew spoke to ElleU.K. and said:“I think also right now I’m just really in love with my girlfriend,” she told the magazine. “We‘ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time, I was like, Finally, I can feel again.”
K-Stew talked about being more about her relationship: “When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialised, so I didn’t like it. We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that. But then it changed when I started dating a girl. I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it, or I’m ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up, and I’m so much happier.”
