We are approaching towards the end of the month of November which indicates the fact the Indian Super League is approaching its business end. With the all the teams having very few matches left to play, things are getting very close. Who will get through, who will not – is the question of the hour. And at this juncture, we present the final round fixtures of the ISL 2016 along with the possible semi-final clashes.
ISL 2016: Possible Semi Final Clash
As the league table stands in the ISL 2016, Mumbai City FC are the only team who are already guaranteed a spot in the semifinals. At the close second, there is Delhi Dynamos who put 5 goals past a hapless FC Goa side to make their semi-final berth almost booked. In the third spot sitting prettily is the first ISL champion Atletico de Kolkata who have 2 matches still in hand. Winning one of those will confirm their berth in the last four.
Definitely, the match to be watched is going to be the Atletico de Kolkata vs Kerala Blasters which is scheduled to be held on November 29. Both the teams are locked at 18 points each. A win for either team will see them through while the loser might just have to face a must-win situation in their last game. Atletico de Kolkata definitely has the advantage over Kerala Blasters as both of the matches Kolkata will play on their home ground. So the ever-cheering Kolkata crowd will be right behind their team when the men in Red-and-White take the field in their last two matches. Kerala Blasters FC, on the other hand, has a tough task ahead of them, although they are in the most favourable position among the last 5.
However, things are not yet over for teams like NorthEast United FC, FC Pune City and Chennaiyin FC in the ISL 2016. For FC Pune City and Chennaiyin it’s a must win situation. And even a win will not see them through to the semis. Then they will have to depend on the results of other teams to go through. North East United FC are in a better position than FC Pune City and Chennaiyin FC as they have two matches in their hand and one of those is against Kerala Blasters. That match is definitely going to be the decider of the fourth team who will be going through to the semis provided Atletico De Kolkata win their tie against Kerala Blasters.
However, as it stands now, it is absolutely complicated. Three of the mid table teams have the opportunity to go through to the semis and it will really get more interesting once the ISL 2016 moves on to the games scheduled this week.
